Do you avoid making decisions because you aren’t sure if that’s what God wants you to do? You want to do the right thing. The right way. You have a plan and you need God’s permission to move forward.

Are you afraid of making decisions becasue of what others will think? If God gives you the answer, will that give you more confidence to do the things you value, love or enjoy?

Do you Need God to Make your Decisions for you?

ST. PAUL TEACHES YOU HOW TO DISCERN GOD’S WILL:

“But be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:1-3

What does St. Paul mean by “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”
He is telling you that transformation begins with you. Your mind. Your thoughts. That you are actually in control of changing your life. Do you believe that?

So often, you think your problems are too big to conquer. You feel overwhlemed, paralyzed and anxious. If only God would tell you what to do, then you could live your life in confidence. Why?

Do you believe that saying “I’m doing God’s will” will keep you from the pain of humiliation, discouragement, and loneliness? Do you search for God’s approval to protect your most vulnerable moments?

St. Paul says that you will be transformed by renewing your mind. Renewing your mind gives you opportunities for growth, healing, and peace.

Growth:

“…that by testing you may discern what is the will of God.”

What happens when you take a test? You can fail or you can pass?

What is discernment?  Discernment means to judge well. St. Paul is telling you to discern God’s will AFTER you take action. He wants you to do the dang thing and try. You will gain clarity from taking action – YOU WILL KNOW IF IT WAS RIGHT/WRONG AFTER YOU DO SOMETHING. If you never decide, you’ll never know what could have happened.

How many times do you wait and pray for God to share His will because you feel discouraged, alone and confused.

So what can you do?

Take small, courageous steps. Think of each step as a test. Your life is composed of many, many tests. Some you’ll fail. Others you won’t. No matter the test, you have the opportunity to grow in love for God.

Healing:

If you are aware of your thoughts + your perceptions, you can begin to see the insecurities, lies, and stories you have believed most of your life. What can you do with these thoughts? God is there to love you in your wounds and brokenness. Your scars aren’t meant to be taken away, but to be healed. The scar remains to remind you that you are capable of failing and falling; it’s also there to show you can go to God each time for fall.

Peace:

If you live your life in small steps, if you treat each action as a test for God’s will, if you allow God to heal your wounds and embrace the scars, you will have a life filled with His Peace.

So when you feel uncertain or discouraged or anxious, and you want to believe that you need God’s answer to move forward, I challenge you to take that small step. Let go of that limiting thought and take action. Encounter God through your works here on earth.

Love + Prayers,

Tina
